Caught Wetting Parking Officers At The Heart Of Bukittinggi City, Former Contract Employee Arrested By Police

The Buru Sergap (Buser) Team of the Bukittinggi Police Criminal Investigation Unit, West Sumatra, has arrested a man with the initials C alias SK (42) who is suspected of often extorting parking officers in the basement area of the Ateh Market Building, Bukittinggi City.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bukittinggi Police, Kompol Anidar, confirmed the arrest.

"We arrested the perpetrator on Saturday after being caught taking money from the parking attendant. Currently, he is still under investigation to explore the motives and possibility of other victims," said Anidar in Bukittinggi, Antara, Sunday, November 2.

From the results of the investigation, it is said that the perpetrators almost every day ask for money forcibly from parking officers on duty at the location. The amount requested varies, even on weekends it can reach IDR 300 thousand per day.

The arrests were made at around 15.30 WIB, shortly after C received money from parking attendants. The perpetrator was arrested while getting out of the car in front of the Bukittinggi Grand Mosque after leaving the parking area of the building.

The police confiscated Rp300 thousand in cash which was allegedly the result of extortion against two parking attendants with the initials T and A.

The perpetrator is also known to be a former contract employee within the Bukittinggi City Government who was laid off some time ago. The police are still investigating whether the action was carried out alone or involving other parties.

This case attracted public attention because it occurred in the central city area and hit parking attendants who worked under the local government.

"The police appealed to the public to report if they had experienced a similar action," said Anidar.
