Polish Fighter Jets Intercept Russian Reconnaissance Planes For The Third Time

JAKARTA - Poland says its fighter jets intercepted Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea for the third time this week.

The plane did not violate Poland's airspace, the Polish Army Operations Command said, but as in previous incidents, the plane had no planned flight and its proposal was turned off.

"This is already the third situation this week, which confirms Russia's increasing flight activity in the Baltic region," the military said.

Countries on the eastern side of NATO have increased awareness of potential airspace breaches since September when three Russian military jets violated Estonia's airspace for 12 minutes, just days after more than 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace.
