Jakarta Residents Get Ready, PAM Water Will Be Temporarily Turned Off In 53 Urban Villages This Weekend
JAKARTA - Perumda PAM Jaya announced that it will temporarily shut down piping water services in 53 urban villages in North Jakarta, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta, starting Friday, October 31, 2025 at 22.00 WIB until Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 02.00 WIB.
Technical Director Akhmad Santika explained that the termination of PAM water services must occur because there will be an increase in the reliability of electricity supply to Pulogadung Water Processing Installation (IPA), East Jakarta, with a production capacity of 4,500 liters per second.
"This is something normal in the operation, called maintenance, there must be and must be carried out as one of the preventive tools from PLN," Santika told reporters, Thursday, October 30.
Santika explained, if the electricity maintenance at IPA PAM Jaya is not carried out, it is feared that there will be disturbances such as an electrical short circuit. This can also cause even wider power outages.
"What we use from PLN is not small, yes, the stress is middle and upper, not like ordinary households. We use 5300 KVA, medium and upper stress at 20,000 watts and above. This is something we have to do and apologize, our services are a little disrupted," he explained.
Previously, PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said the disruption of this clean water supply would have an impact on around 311,524 customers spread across 53 urban villages.
The affected areas include Gunung Sahari Utara Village, Pasar Baru, Gunung Sahari Selatan, Harapan Mulya, Kebon Blank, Kemayoran, Serdang, Sumur Batu, Utan Panjang, Cempaka Baru, Galur, Johar Baru, Kampung Rawa, Tanah Tinggi, Cempaka Putih Barat, Cempaka Putih Timur, Rawasari, Bungur, Kenari, Kramat, Kwitang, Paseban, Senen, Bali Mester, Cipinang, Jati, Jatinegara Kaum.
Then, Pisangan Timur Village, Rawamangun, Kayu Manis, Kebon Manggis, Pal Meriam, Kayu Putih, Pulo Gadung, West Cakung, East Cakung, Jatinegara, Milling, Rawa Terate, Ujung Menteng, South Cipinang Besar, Cipinang Muara, West Kelapa Gading, East Kelapa Gading, Pegangsaan Dua, Rorotan, Kebon Bawang, South Koja, North Koja, Bambu River, Tanjung Priok, East Pademangan, and Sunter Jaya.
According to Arief, this temporary suspension was carried out to prevent the risk of a short circuit or damage to the power grid which could result in longer and unexpected disruptions.
"If there is no electricity repair by PLN, this is also a big risk, it will happen like a short circuit or whatever which may result in unpredictable time. There is an unpredictable time, which will later become a water service," he said.

Although the repairs only lasted four hours, the restoration of water distribution to customers is estimated to take longer. Arief said the full normalization process could reach 48 hours due to the length of the distribution pipeline network.
"After 4 hours we recovered, we finished repairing and repairing, that was immediately then the closest area, yes, at that time the water was immediately recovered. So, that's the duration from 4 hours to 48 hours," said Arief.
Customers are advised to hold water before work starts as an anticipatory measure as long as supplies are disrupted.
