Contract Considered Valid, NewJeans Will File An Appeal About ADOR
JAKARTA - An exclusive contract between NewJeans and the ADOR label is declared valid. The Seoul court held a hearing on Thursday, October 30 to reveal the results of ADOR's lawsuit against five NewJeans members.
As a result, they declared the contracts of the five NewJeans members with ADOR valid and could not be terminated because of the former CEO of ADOR, Min Hee Jin.
"It's hard to conclude ADOR violated exclusive contracts just because it removed CEO Min Hee Jin. Even if Min Hee Jin is removed from CEO position, he can work as a producer and director and there's no need for him to remain CEO," the court said in a statement.
"It's hard to see if Min Hee Jin's removal is a major problem that can determine the validity of an exclusive contract and there is no contract clause that underlies this," he said.
The court also explained that ADOR worked hard to prepare albums, fanmeetings, advertisements and tours even though problems with NewJeans continued.
NewJeans' position seemed hindered after the court said NewJeans' claims related to issues in the work environment were unacceptable. Previously, Hanni testified that she heard the group's manager asking not to greet Hanni, which was later revealed by BELIFT LAB, the ILLIT group.

Following the announcement, the law on behalf of the five NewJeans members stated that they would appeal the decision.
"Members respect the court's decision but given that trust with ADOR has been broken, they believe it is impossible to return to ADOR and continue activities in the entertainment industry in a normal attitude," said Shin & Kim LLC as legal.
"Members will file an appeal and hopefully the court will review the facts of a single song to terminate the exclusive contract. Finally, we thank fans who waited and supported them for a long time," he said.
In November 2024, NewJeans held a press conference containing their desire to leave ADOR. This year they announced the name of the new group, NJZ for activities independently.
