Premier League And Vidio Remind Fans About The Dangers Of Illegal Streaming

JAKARTA - The Premier League announced its collaboration with the streaming service platform or Over-The-Top (OTT), Vidio, in launching the Boot Out Piracy campaign in Indonesia, highlighting the hidden risks of illegal streaming practices.

The campaign emphasizes that accessing content through pirated sites and illegal streaming devices (ISD) can pose a huge risk to users.

A recent study by cybersecurity expert Professor PaulWAtters revealed that situ pirated 22 times more at risk than official sites in exposing users to fraud.

In addition, nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of pirated sites are indicated to contain cyber threats such as malware, phishing, or fraud.

What's more, the study also mentions that all the (100 percent) advertisements that appear on pirated sites promote harmful content, ranging from online gambling, adult content, to fraud.

"Through the Boot Out Piracy campaign, we want to emphasize that anyone watching Premier League matches through websites and pirated devices risks exposing themselves and their families to data theft, cyber threats, and fraud that can all be very detrimental," said Premier League General Advisor Kevin Plumb.

His collaboration with Vidio is one of the effective steps in conveying this important message to fans in Indonesia, and encouraging them to watch Premier League matches safely and responsibly.

"The fight against content piracy is not only about protecting broadcaster and creator rights, but also about keeping viewers from digital threats and ensuring they can enjoy world-class entertainment safely," added Gina Golda Pangaila, Public Advisor, Vidio.

As a complement to this effort, Vidio has formed a special anti-piracy team consisting of more than 35 personnel working to prevent access to sites that broadcast football matches illegally.

Vidio also collaborates closely with a number of major social media and technology companies such as Google, Meta, and TikTok, and is actively involved with OTT industry associations both at the local and international levels.
