House Of Representatives Commission II: Single Salary System Will Boost ASN Performance
JAKARTA - The government continues to finalize plans for implementing a single salary system for State Civil Apparatus (ASN).
Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Mohamad Toha, assessed that the implementation of a single salt system for ASN is a strategic step to improve the quality and professionalism of the bureaucracy in Indonesia.
The single salary system can provide fair and proportional appreciation for the position and responsibility of ASN. That way, ASN will be more motivated to work professionally, improve performance, and provide quality public services," Toha told reporters, Thursday, October 30.
He explained that the single salary system will also help reduce income disparities between ASN in various agencies and regions. With this equality, according to Toha, the sense of justice within ASN will increase, and structural inequality can be suppressed.
In addition, said Toha, the implementation of a single salary system can save administrative costs and simplify the ASN salary management process which has been considered complex and layered.
"With a single salary system, ASN will receive clear, transparent, and measurable income. This will reduce opportunities for corrupt practices and nepotism, as well as strengthen the accountability of ASN in carrying out its duties," he said.

Toha also considers that this policy has the potential to improve the welfare and job satisfaction of ASN, because a fairer system will foster loyalty and work spirit.
"In the end, the single salary system will have a positive impact on improving the quality of public services and the welfare of ASN, including when they enter retirement. With this system, ASN pension allowances can increase and retirees' lives will be more prosperous," he said.
Toha hopes that the government can immediately finalize the study and implementation of this single salary policy.
"So that the transformation of the bureaucracy towards a professional, transparent, and accountable apparatus can actually be realized," he concluded.
