The Success Of The DPR In Pushing For The Reduction Of The 2026 Hajj Fee Is Assessed As Shown The Sensitivity Of The People's Conditions
JAKARTA - The Togetherness of Travel Hajj and Umrah Entrepreneurs (BERSATHU) expresses their appreciation to the DPR RI, especially Commission VIII, for its success in encouraging the reduction in the Cost of Organizing Hajj (BPIH) in 2026. This is considered as an effort to fight for the needs of the community.
"We appreciate the steps taken by the DPR, especially Commission VIII, which has successfully fought for the cost of Hajj in 2026 to decrease. This is a form of concern for the people in the midst of economic conditions that have not fully recovered," said the chairman of the DPP BESTRU, Farid Al Jawi in Jakarta, Thursday, October 30.
After going through intensive discussions, the DPR and the government officially set an average Hajj fee for 2026 of Rp. 87.4 million. The average cost of Hajj travel (Bipih) or the cost that must be paid per congregation later is Rp. 54,193,806.58 or 62 percent of the total BPIH. This figure is down by Rp. 1.2 million from last year.
Meanwhile, 38 percent of the remaining Hajj costs or Rp 33.21 million come from the value of the benefits of managing Hajj finance. With this agreement, BPIH in 2026 decreased by Rp. 2 million compared to 2025 which amounted to Rp. 89.41 million per member of the congregation. Meanwhile, the costs paid directly by the congregation also decreased by Rp. 1.23 million, from Rp. 55.43 million in 2025 to Rp. 54.19 million in 2026.
Farid assessed that this decline step reflects the people's representatives' sensitivity and concern for the economic condition of the community who are still in the process of recovering.
Farid also assessed that the results of the determination of the hajj fee, which fell by Rp. 2 million from last year, are proof that the BPIH discussion process is carried out seriously and in favor of the community. According to him, transparency and efficiency in each component of costs need to be maintained so that this decline has a real impact on prospective pilgrims.
"The cost components must continue to be detailed starting from flights, guidelines, to the 'ir' period such as Arafah, Mina, and Musdalifah. The efficiency in these sectors can provide greater space for lower costs," he said.

Farid also emphasized that the role of the DPR is very crucial in ensuring that the hajj fee policy is in favor of the community. He assessed that the DPR's courage in criticizing and encouraging efficiency was the main factor behind the decline in costs this year.
"The role of the DPR is very decisive. Without their courage and firmness in the discussion, perhaps the cost of Hajj will not go down. Commission VIII really shows a strong commitment to defending the interests of the people," said Farid.
On the other hand, Farid reminded that the reduction in the cost of Hajj should not sacrifice the quality of service. Moreover, this has also become a commitment conveyed by the DPR that the reduction in costs will not have an impact on the quality of Hajj services.
He also encouraged the Government to be escorted by the DPR to present a better and more professional implementation of the pilgrimage. "We certainly hope that the costs will decrease, but services will increase. That is the most important thing. We believe that the DPR and the government will continue to maintain this balance," he said.
Furthermore, Farid welcomed the new spirit under the newly formed Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia. The presence of this ministry is expected to bring innovation and new efficiency in the implementation of the pilgrimage.
"We believe that 2026 will be an important momentum. With the new spirit of the Ministry of Hajj, we are optimistic that the implementation of the Hajj will be much better," said Farid.
In addition, Farid appealed to prospective pilgrims who had entered the departure portion to immediately pay off the payment of the Hajj fee. "We remind prospective pilgrims to immediately pay the Hajj fee according to schedule. The sooner the payment is carried out, the smoother the preparation and absorption of the quota," he concluded.
As is known, Commission VIII of the DPR RI together with the government agreed on the amount of Hajj per member of the congregation amounting to Rp. 87.4 million. The decision was knocked out during a meeting at Commission VIII DPR RI, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 29. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of Commission VIII, Marwan Dasopang.
The BIPIH 2026 figure is the result of a long discussion between the DPR, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). Initially, the government proposed the amount of BPIH of Rp. 88.4 million per member of the congregation. However, after an in-depth discussion, BPIH 2026 was agreed to fall to Rp. 87.4 million.
