Bahlil Inaugurates PLTMH In Arfak Regency, Able To Electricity 1,500 Houses

MINAHASA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia inaugurated the Anggi Phase I Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 150 kilowatt hour (Kwh) located in Anggi District, Arfak Regency, West Papua Province. Just so you know, this PLTMH has actually been operating since March 2023 as part of the Dedieselization Program.

The inauguration by Bahlil was carried out in a grand manner in Wolaang Village, East Langowan District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi.

From Arfak Regency, the Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) ESDM Eniya Listiani Dewi explained that the PLTMH Anggi Phase I Development Program and the PLTMH Anggi Phase II groundbreaking were strategic steps from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to realize Arfak Mountains Regency as the only Regency in Indonesia whose 100 percent electrical energy was supplied by the EBT generator.

"We report that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has built the first phase of the hydropower plant in Anggi at 150 kilowatt and has electrified 1,500 households," said Eniya online, Wednesday, October 29.

On the same occasion, continued Eniya, he and West Papua's Gunernur have conducted a groundbreaking of 250 KwH and can electrify 2,700 customers for up to 24 hours.

Before receiving supplies from PLTMH, lanju Eniya, the people in Pegunungan Arfak Regency used PLN electricity sourced from PLTD, so the electricity supply was very dependent on the availability of diesel at greater transportation costs.

With the operation of the addition of PLTMH Anggi capacity of 2 x 250 kW, it can reduce the use of PLTD fuel in the isolated electricity system around the Arfak Mountains system, which is planned to be integrated with the Arfak Mountains system, namely the Sururey, Demaisi, Taige, Catubouw, Menyambouw, Hink and Anggi Giga Systems.

1 Based on calculations, there is a potential for saving fuel usage of IDR 6.7 billion per year. So that since operating in March 2023 until now (2.5 years), the total cost of providing PLTD fuel has reached IDR 17 billion.

"We also report that fuel that can be saved is IDR 6.7 billion per year. In this area, one Regency can 100 percent eliminate diesel use. This is an extraordinary commitment from the local government and the community. Hopefully next year it will be completely completed," said Eniya.
