AWS Will Invest IDR 83.1 Trillion In South Korea To Build New AI Data Center
JAKARTA Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon subsidiary, plans to make a massive investment in South Korea. This investment will be worth about 5 billion US dollars (Rp83.1 trillion).
This investment is rumored to be running until 2031. Through this investment, AWS will build a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) data center that is in line with Seoul's ambition, which is to become the leading AI center in Asia.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who met directly with AWS while attending the peak of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), welcomed this plan. Lee believes that this investment can accelerate the growth of the AI industry ecosystem.
Meanwhile, AWS CEO Matt Garman stated that their global investment in 14 countries and non-US APEC economies will reach 40 billion US dollars (Rp665.2 trillion) until 2028. From this investment, Garman said that the results were very large.

"Dan, 40 miliar dolar itu sebenarnya menghasilkan tambahan 45 miliar dolar AS (Rp748 triliun) dalam PDB AS dan manfaat hilir yang menguntung seluruh ekonomi APEC," ujar Garman, melansir dari Reuters.
AWS plans to build a new data center on the outskirts of Seoul as part of this investment. Earlier, in June, AWS had also announced an investment plan worth US$4 billion (Rp66 trillion) in South Korea as part of the SK Group project.
The SK Group project aims to build the country's largest data center located in the city of Ulsan. This AWS investment in South Korea complements similar commitments in other Asian-Pacific countries, including Japan, Australia, and Singapore.
