Amazon To Cut 30,000 Corporate Employees To Reduce Costs
JAKARTA Amazon announced plans to cut employees. The company will cut off 30,000 corporate employees to reduce costs.
Amazon has started cutting its employees on Tuesday, October 28. Launching from Reuters, this layoff was carried out because Amazon recruited excessively during the pandemic because its products experienced high demand.
This employee cut will be Amazon's biggest layoff since late 2022. At that time, the company cut about 27,000 employees. To cut this time, the amount is equivalent to 10 percent of the total Amazon corporate employees.
The company has 350,000 corporate employees. When compared to the total number of Amazon employees, which is 1.55 million employees, this time the cuts are still in a very small percentage.
Amazon's spokesman declined to comment on this cropping plan. However, the layoffs that have begun are expected to affect various major divisions of Amazon.

Affected team managers have been asked to undergo training on October 27, 2025. The training was carried out to notify staff of layoff plans before the company sends an email notification.
This cuts is also in line with Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy's initiative to reduce excessive bureaucracy in the company. He previously revealed that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is likely to lead to further layoffs.
