Minister Of Transportation: Red Chest Repatriation From England Forms Of Internasional Trust
DENPASAR - Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni assessed that repatriation or repatriation of the Red Chest Bird species (Trichoglossus forsteni) from Paradise Park, England, to Bali is a form of international trust.
According to the Minister of Forestry, the repatriation of 40 endemic birds is not only conservation activities, but because the world believes in Indonesia's capacity in managing wildlife according to global standards.
"Because of the international trust that continues to improve in us, the cooperation of world conservation institutions with us is getting better, we are given the trust that they will return this Red Chest to their ancestral land, namely Bali," said the Minister of Transportation Raja Juli, Monday, October 27.
It is known that the Red Chest which only exists on the islands of Bali and Lombok, their status is protected in 2018, this species is threatened with extinction until it is finally developed in the UK.
After being repatriated several months ago, now 20 female birds and 20 males are being treated at Bali Bird Park and Taman Safari Bali until they manage to breed.
Director of Species and Genetic Conservation at the Directorate General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE) of the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) Nunu Anugrah added that the red chest pipe repatriation activity was in accordance with the rules.
"The Governor of Bali said that he no longer sees this species in Bali, so the essence is that we return endemic plasma to Bali, we also want to involve and increase the capacity of conservation institutions in Indonesia and those in the UK," he said.
To this day, the Ministry of Transportation noted that in Bali Bird Park and Bali Safari Park, 12 Red Chest Birds have been hatching, so it is projected that within the next six months the endemic bird will be released in the Batukaru Forest, Tabanan.
At the Commission IV Reses Working Visit, the Minister of Transportation, Raja Juli, together with the Chairman of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Suharto and the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, also wrote names for three red-chested birds, namely Atat Ajegang Bali, Atat Amertha, and Kedis Atat Kerthi Bali.
For this activity, the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, expressed his gratitude, because this type of bird Atat or Perkici is very rare and its presence is now encouraging in protecting endemic animals.
"We are very grateful that this bird can be raised again so that its sustainability will be maintained in the future, we must protect all the contents of this nature, not only humans but also animals and their biodiversity," said Koster.
With this encouragement, the Bali Provincial Government promised to pursue again and consult with experts so that other rare birds can be found and re-employed.
