Ancur Podcast Brings Airfare Troops From Audio Stories To Film And Animated Fields
JAKARTA - After six years of being one of the comedy podcasts taken into account in Indonesia, Ancur's Podcast is no longer satisfied with playing only in the audio realm.
Trio Diaz Danar, Patra Gumala, and Randhika Djamil have now officially announced ambitious steps to penetrate a new universe: the film and animation industry, with its first project titled "Animated Airfare Troops".
This animation project is the result of collaboration with animation studio VISI8 and is a marker of serious development of Intellectual Property (IP) belonging to Podcast Ancur.
For Diaz, Ancur's Podcast decision to spread its wings is a way to strengthen their existence amid the onslaught of digital content.
"We don't want to be strong on just one foundation. There must be a lot of foundations so that the building will be stronger," Diaz said, met at the Indo Comic Con event at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday, October 26.

In addition, Patra added that this diversification opens many new doors for the Ancur Podcast itself.
"So it's not just audio, but animation, F&B collaboration, merchandise, all the way," Patra said.
Interestingly, instead of choosing a common live action in the film industry, the Ancur Podcast actually makes the choice in the animated format for the Airfare Troops', which was originally known as the sci-fi audio drama.
Diaz explained that the enthusiasm to bring new experiences to listeners who have only known Podcast Ancur via audio, must also be carried out with cost efficiency considerations.
"The Airfare Troops initially told an audio story with the theme sci-fi. Well, instead of going straight to a very expensive live action, animation is the most reasonable medium for it to continue," Diaz said.
This is supported by the overabundance of animation as an unlimited container for their insane creativity.
"If the live action is limited to fees and technicalities, but if the animation of the imagination has no boundaries. We can play no matter how far the idea," Randhika said.
Currently, the Animasi Airfare Troops project has not been planned for a long film. Patra explained, the adaptation will start from a concise content format. "Now it's in the form of animation for 1 minute first. Later it could be a 3'10 minute series. We are also developing for the physical comic version and merchandise," he said.
This collaboration with VISI8 is also a gift for the six-year celebration of the existence of Ancur Podcast in the creative industry. Nature from VISI8 sees great potential in this unique and absurd IP.
"We collaborated in the development of the IP Airfare Troops belonging to the Ancur Podcast, which was originally in the form of audio drama on Spotify," said Alam.
While finalizing the main script for the serial version, VISI8 also helps Podcast Ancur by creating weekly reels content with light animated characters.
"We see great potential in the story of the unique and absurd Air Hampa Force, so that in the future this IP will be developed by Vision8 in a comic strip format and a short animation series," he concluded.
