Find Illegal Mining Activities In Indramayu, Police: Without IUP

JAKARTA - The Indramayu Resort Police (Polres) in West Java (West Java), revealed the findings of illegal or illegal land mining activities in Tunggulpayung Village, Lelea District, during field inspections on October 21.

The head of the Indramayu Police Satreskrim AKP Arwin Bachar said the findings occurred after officers received reports from residents who suspected excavation activities in the village rice fields.

"After checking, we found heavy equipment operating without a mining permit (IUP) document," he said in Indramayu, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

From that location, he said, officers secured a man with the initials HY (44), a resident of Cirebon Regency, who acted as the field coordinator of the mining activity.

Arwin explained that when asked for information at the location, the suspect could not show official permit documents for mining.

In addition, his party confiscated a number of evidences in the form of a heavy equipment unit in the form of excavators, a land transport truck, and several documents.

"From the results of the initial examination, the mining activities were carried out without the knowledge of the local government or the authorities," he said.

He emphasized that mining actions without a permit had violated legal provisions, and could have a serious impact on the conditions of the surrounding environment.

According to him, decisive steps against illegal mining actors are a form of the police's commitment to preserving the environment and upholding legal certainty in Indramayu.

"The suspect is now charged with Article 158 in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Minerba, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code," he said.

His party will continue to monitor mining activities in all jurisdictions of the Indramayu Police, to prevent similar practices from occurring in other locations.

He appealed to the public to immediately report to the police if they found suspicious mining activities that did not have official permits so that they could be dealt with immediately.

"The active role of the community is important to protect the environment from damage due to illegal mining activities," he said.
