Trump Warns Israel Will Lose US Support If Annexing The West Bank

JAKARTA - Washington will prevent Israel from annexing the West Bank, Palestine, President Donald Trump said, stressing that if it is still done it will cause the country to lose the support of the United States.

"That will not happen. It will not happen because I have promised Arab countries. And you cannot do that now. We have received great support from Arab countries," President Trump said in an interview with Time Magazine, quoted from TASS Oct. 23.

"That will not happen because I have promised Arab countries. That will not happen. Israel will lose all its support from the United States if that happens," President Trump said when asked about the consequences of a potential Israeli annexation of the West Bank.

Separately, US Vice President JD Vance previously called Israel's attempt to annex the West Bank a "very stupid political action."

Earlier, Israeli Parliamentary press services reported Knesset had passed the initial reading of two draft laws on the application of Israel's sovereignty over two settlements in the West Bank.

On July 23, Knesset adopted a declaration calling on the Israeli government to expand Israel's sovereignty to the West Bank. A total of 71 of the 120 lawmakers approved the declaration, while 13 others abstained.
