IOC Breaks Dialogue With Indonesia Due To Israel's Prohibition Of Athletes
JAKARTA The International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially cut off dialogue with Indonesia after prohibiting Israeli athletes from participating in the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics Championships or 53rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025.
The agency in their latest official statement said it was deeply concerned about Indonesia's decision to limit the access of Israeli athletes to participate in the important event.
"These actions rob athletes of the right to compete peacefully and hinder the Olympic Movement from demonstrating the strength of the sport," the IOC Executive Council said on their official website.

The statement was issued by the IOC after their Executive Council held an online meeting this week to discuss global issues and Indonesia's policy of not issuing visas for Israeli athletes to cancel their actions in Jakarta.
This meeting highlighted the position and principles of the IOC regarding the rights of all eligible athletes, teams, and sports officials to be able to participate in international sporting competitions and events without any discrimination from the host country.
To respect this basic principle and respect neutrality and prevent similar situations from happening in the future, the IOC Executive Board decided four important points.
One of them is to stop all forms of dialogue with the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC) regarding the upcoming edition of the Olympics, Youth Olympics, Olympic events, or conferences.
This will apply until the Indonesian Government provides adequate guarantees to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that all participants, regardless of nationality, will be allowed to participate.
"Then the IOC also recommends to all international federations not to hold any international sporting events or meetings in Indonesia," the follow-up statement said.
Furthermore, they also asked international federations to include guarantees of access to countries for all athletes for the Olympic qualifying competition.
Then lastly, the IOC asked NOC Indonesia and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to come to the IOC headquarters in Lausanne to discuss the cancellation of Israel's participation.
