Meeting Palestinian Cendekiawan, Menbud Fadli Encourages The Establishment Of The Indonesian Palestinian Museum In Jakarta
JAKARTA The nation's strength is not only based on politics or the military, but also on knowledge and culture. The sentence was pronounced by the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon after a dialogue with a Palestinian scholar, Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah El-'Awaisi, at the National Museum of Indonesia (MNI), Jakarta, Wednesday, October 22.
The meeting between the two took place warmly and meaningfully. Fadli Zon assessed Prof. Abdul Fattah opened an important opportunity for research cooperation in the history of Indonesia's relations "Palestinian from the 1945 independence period to the 1955 Asian Africa Conference." One of the ideas we are developing is the establishment of the Palestinian Museum "Indonesia as a center for learning history and culture between the two nations. We are considering its location, one of which is in the Istiqlal Mosque area," he said.
Fadli emphasized that this museum is not only a symbol of solidarity, but also a reflection space on the humanitarian struggle of the Palestinian people. He assessed that cross-border academic collaboration is important to strengthen historical narratives that have been rarely raised in the context of culture and humanity.
Meanwhile, Prof. Abdul Fattah who was present with KH. Fahmi Salim, President Director of the Baitul Maqdis Institute "expressed his appreciation for the moral and material support of the Indonesian Government for the struggle of the Palestinian people and Baitul Maqdis, especially in the last two years.
He explained that his institution has been collaborating with various countries, including Indonesia, in the field of education and international relations. "International experience gives me a broad view that education and history are the foundation of peace and solidarity between nations," said Prof. Abdul Fattah.
