Jakarta Arts Institute Campus Will Be Moved To Kota Tua, DKI Regional Secretary: Implementers Relive Heritage Places
JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian Untayana hopes that the move of the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ) to Kota Tua, West Jakarta, can optimize all the wealth of history and existing cultural values.
"Both Kota Tua and (Taman Ismail Marzuki) TIM must both live after this IKJ has been moved to its place," Justin said in Jakarta, Wednesday, in Antara.
According to him, before being moved, the DKI Provincial Government must also ensure that its new place is really ready for teaching activities, students, and artists.
Because in the current place, namely in TIM, IKJ is in the same environment as various facilities that can support their artistic activities.
"Customs, theaters, open spaces, and others must be available before the IKJ is moved," he said.
Justin hopes that when IKJ has been moved, it can revive Kota Tua considering that this location is a rich place in the history of the City of Jakarta.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo wanted to revive the art stage in Kota Tua by moving IKJ to the area.
"Indeed, in Kota Tua, the place is really good. I have seen several times and for that there must be an art stage that is constantly being held. And the art stage will be very easy to hold if later the artists are also there while attending school," said Pramono, Tuesday, October 21.

That is the reason he wants to move the IKJ to Kota Tua, West Jakarta.
He hopes that the transfer of IKJ can later become a trigger to revive Kota Tua as a cultural heritage area.
"Hopefully this will be a trigger or initiator to revive Kota Tua as a heritage place, a place that can develop well, and then of course it will be better, neater, but the arts can still be done," he said.
