Joseph Parker Believes In Breaking Oleksandr Usyk's Record

JAKARTA Joseph Parker is very confident in being able to break the unbeaten record held by the undisputed heavyweight world champion twice, Oleksandr Usyk.

The boxer from New Zealand will enter the ring this weekend against Fabio Wardley at the O2 Arena, London, England. He had to win to get the chance to meet Usyk.

The 33-year-old fighter is very confident in winning versus Wardley. Even though the duel took place at home to the opponent, he boasted that he had superior abilities.

"I've been fighting against everyone there. I want to get out and show the level at which I'm compared to the level at which he (Wardley) is at," he said.

Usyk immediately received an order to enter the ring against Parker in a mandatory WBO heavyweight belt fight after he defeated Daniel Dubois in July 2025 to become world champion for the second time undisputed.

However, the injured Usyk requested an extension of the deadline. The request was heeded so Parker decided to risk his status against Wardley.

Parker said he would focus on stopping Wardley before playing Usyk. He wanted to beat the Ukrainian champion to be the best in the heavyweight class.

"Usyk is a target for all heavyweight boxers. He currently has all the heavyweight belt so I have to go through this fight properly," he said.

The winner of the match between Parker versus Wardley will be Usyk's mandatory challenger. However, Usyk could choose to vacate the WBO belt and let one of them become the real world champion.

Usyk has had 24 fights in his professional career. On the way to become world champion indisputable twice, he defeated a number of big names such as Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury.
