Indonesia Mega Diversity, Promising Culture Needs Cross-Institutional Synergy

JAKARTA - Cultural submission is the constitutional mandate, the responsibility of all elements of the nation," said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon when signing a number of memorandums of understanding with relevant ministries and institutions at the Ministry of Culture Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/10).

This step, said Fadli, is a strategic foundation to strengthen cross-sectoral collaboration in implementing Article 32 paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution, which emphasizes the state's obligation to advance Indonesia's national culture in the midst of world civilization.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding with the theme Universary Direction, Strengthening Performance' is carried out between the Ministry of Culture and a number of ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bappenas, Ministry of Environment, Attorney General's Office, Police, BPOM, and the Indonesian National Archives.

Fadli emphasized that one year of his leadership at the Ministry of Culture was carried out by making the constitutional mandate the main guideline for policy direction. He said that culture includes the legacy of objects and objects: language, literature, manuscript, manuscript, food, sports and traditional games, to arts, music, films, and performances.

"National cultural coverage is very broad, in accordance with Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning the Advancement of Culture. Therefore, cross-ministerial and institutional support is a must," he said.

According to Fadli, Indonesia's richness and cultural diversity is a force that places this nation as one of the world's cultural superpowers. We have 1,340 ethnic groups and 718 regional languages, about 10 percent of the entire language in the world. More than 2,200 Intangible Cultural Heritage has been established, with 16 heritages being transcribed at UNESCO. This wealth is not just diversity, but mega diversity," he said.

Director of Cooperation, Mardisonori, added that this signing is an important momentum to strengthen the synergy of cross-sector programs in cultural promotion. Collaboration includes mapping, protection, facilitation, increasing human resource capacity, exchanging data and information, to strengthening policies and law enforcement.

The event was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy, Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Attorney General Burhanuddin, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Head of BPOM Taruna Ikrar, and Head of ANRI Mego Pinandito.

At the end of his speech, Fadli reiterated the message of the importance of synergy: 'Cultural submission is not only the task of the Ministry of Culture, but the shared responsibility of all ministries and state institutions. Only with collaboration can this constitutional mandate be realized.'
