Minister Of Finance Purbaya Optimistic Household Consumption Grows Above 5.5 Percent In The Fourth Quarter Of 2025
JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa expressed his belief that household consumption growth could exceed 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, or exceed the projection of national economic growth.
"(Consumption projection) Above, the projection is above 5.5 percent, or more (from) before, right," said Purbaya to the media crew, Tuesday, October 21.
Meanwhile, this optimism is supported by additional fiscal stimulus disbursed by the government, such as the expansion of direct cash assistance (BLT), the addition of a wave of national internship programs for young graduates and additional liquidity of Rp200 trillion to Himbara, which is estimated to help accelerate the economic turnover.
Purbaya is optimistic that the government's stimulus and liquidity injection will have a significant impact on consumption.
"Yes, yesterday, the current data has not come out. If I look at the data such as BI's retail sales data starting to increase in the last month, in September, because part of the impact of the money that I poured (IDR 200 trillion liquidity) has started to be felt in the system," he explained.
He also estimates that the economic impact will be increasingly visible from October to December 2025.

For the record, in recent years household consumption has never grown higher than national economic growth. Since 2018, the growth trend tends to be moderate, namely 5.05 percent in 2018-2019, down to 4.82 percent in 2023, then up slightly to 4.94 percent in 2024, and 4.97 percent in the second quarter of 2025.
