Pionir Bass 6-Senar, Anthony Jackson Dies At The Age Of 73

JAKARTA - The legendary bass player from the US, Anthony Jackson, died at the age of 73. He breathed his last on Sunday, October 19 local time.

This sad news has been confirmed by bass producer Fodera Guitars, who is working closely with Jackson.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of Anthony Jackson one of the most visionary and influential bassists in the history of our instruments," wrote Fodera Guitars, quoted by Guitar World.

Virtuoso jazz fusion, Al Di Meola, also paid tribute to Jackson's interventional legacy.

Anthony's influence goes far beyond the tone he plays, Meola says. He pioneered the concept of six-string guitar'', revolutionizing the role of electric bass in art, jazz, sentiment, and so on.

Of his many musical heritages, Jackson is famous for his work with a 6-senar bass. He was one of the first musicians to use the instrument extensively.

Meanwhile, Anthony Jackson was born in New York City on June 23, 1952. Initially, he focused on piano and guitar, before turning to bass after hearing Glen Campbell's song in 1965.

He then started appearing as a session musician and has undergone recordings with many artists throughout his career, including Steely Dan and Chaka Khan.

In his last years, Anthony faced serious health challenges, including Parkinson's diagnosis and the impact of a stroke, which ultimately limited his immediate appearance.

A charity concert held in early 2025 was held as a respect and admiration for the music community for it.

Anthony Jackson leaves behind a musical legacy that will echo across generations. Games, innovations, and their influence will continue to inspire generations of bassists and musicians to come.
