TASIKMALAYA - A surveillance camera (CCTV) footage shows two perpetrators stealing motorbikes at a shop in Cigalontang District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, Friday, October 17 in the morning.

The perpetrator managed to rob the motorbike by breaking the iron trellis lock installed outside the shop, while one other perpetrator was on guard to monitor the surrounding situation.

Based on the CCTV footage, the police managed to apprehend two perpetrators named Eka and Yayat, residents from Majalengka. They claimed to have carried out their actions at a number of points in the Tasikmalaya area.

"Based on reports from the public, we immediately conducted an investigation and succeeded in arresting the two perpetrators in Majalengka," said KBO Satreskrim Tasikmalaya Police, Ipda Agus Yusuf Suryana in his statement.

Ironically, one of the stolen motorbikes was stolen by another person while parked in front of the perpetrator's house.

In addition, they also admitted that they had bad luck while in action. One of the stolen motorbikes broke down on the road and had to be abandoned.

"Based on the results of the information, at the time of stealing, the motorbike carried by the perpetrator broke down and just left. Then one of the other stolen motorbikes was stolen again when it was parked at the perpetrator's house. That's his confession, and we will continue to explore," said Agus.

Agus explained that the perpetrators broke the store's safety lock and motorcycle contact in the early hours of the morning when people fell asleep. The theft took place quickly, no more than 5 minutes.

"The perpetrators sold stolen motorbikes at a price below the market, around Rp. 4 million," concluded Agus.

As a result of their actions, the two perpetrators must now languish behind bars. They face up to 9 years in prison.
