ODGJ Man Hostages Two Of His Biological Children, Residents Call The Perpetrators Often 'Halu'

JAKARTA - The man suspected of having a mental disorder or ODGJ suddenly angry and took his two children hostage in a photocopying outlet on Jalan Kalisari, RT 02/03, Kalisari Village, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta, Friday, October 17, 2025.

Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Abdul Wahid said the man was suspected of being a person with a mental disorder (ODGJ).

"According to information from residents in the environment, these people often have high hallucinations or stress," Wahid said during confirmation.

Residents then reported to the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. office for evacuation of the child.

"The evacuation was carried out by 3 East Jakarta firefighters," he said.

The two victims and the perpetrators were then arrested by firefighters. Meanwhile, Pasar Rebo Police Chief AKP I Wayan Wijaya said the two victims had been successfully evacuated from the confinement location.

"The two children were brought by the perpetrator's brother," said AKP I Wayan.

After being secured, the perpetrator was taken to the Duren Sawit Hospital for treatment.

"The perpetrator is depressed," he said.
