So Province With The Most People's Oil Wells, South Sumatra Records 26,300 Wells

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia visited a people's oil well in Mekar Sari Village, Musi Banyuasin.

Based on the inventory data, nationally there are a total of 45,095 wells spread across six provinces. South Sumatra Province is the location with the highest number of wells, namely 26,300 wells, of which 22,381 are located in Musi Banyuasin Regency.

During his visit, Bahlil emphasized the government's commitment to organize people's oil mining activities to run safely, sustainably, and environmentally friendly. One concrete step announced is the scheme for purchasing 80 percent of people's oil production from the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP). This policy is designed to provide economic certainty to miners while encouraging them to operate under the official regulatory umbrella.

"The government wants to ensure that people's oil activities continue to run, but must be orderly and according to the rules. With a purchase price of 80 percent of the ICP, people still get decent profits, while the state can monitor this activity, according to the rules," said Bahlil, Friday, October 17.

Bahlil emphasized that the arrangement of people's wells is not only to increase production, but also to increase economic value in a sustainable manner while maintaining the safety of workers and environmental sustainability. He requested that local governments, BUMD, and SKK Migas strengthen coordination in technical and administrative assistance for people miners.

"If all parties work together, the community will prosper and the state will benefit. This is the spirit of the government's alignment with the small people," said Bahlil.

On the other hand, the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru assessed that Muba Regency has great potential in managing people's energy resources. According to him, the issuance of the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 14 of 2025 is an important momentum so that people can manage oil wells legally and safely.

So far, many of our people have worked in this sector without training and face safety risks. With this Permen, we want the community to be able to work safely and empowered, and get legality," said Herman Deru.

During the visit, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources was accompanied by the Head of SKK Migas Djoko Siswanto, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, and Muba Regent M. Toha Tolet.
