BYD Recall 115 Thousand Car Units This Is Due To Electricity And Battery Problems
JAKARTA A car manufacturer from China, BYD, announced the recall of more than 115,000 units of Tang and Yuan Pro model vehicles sold in its home country. This is due to the finding of safety problems in the electrical and battery systems.
This recall was submitted to the China Market Supervisory Agency (State Administration for Market Regulation/SAMR) with a total of 115,783 vehicles affected, as reported by Carnewschina, Friday, October 17.
In the first recall, code S2025M0165I, BYD targeted 44,535 units of the Tang series produced between March 28, 2015, to July 28, 2017. The problem was found in the design and selection of components in the driving motor control device.
In extreme conditions, the system can cause abnormal active discharges that have the potential to burn circuit boards and disrupt pure electric driving mode of vehicles. To overcome this, BYD's official workshop will update the software (update software). Where, the update is by changing the discharge method to a motorcycle discharge to eliminate potential safety risks. Meanwhile, the second recall with the code S2025M0166I covers 71,248 pure Yuan Pro electric cars produced from February 6, 2021 to August 5, 2022.
In this model, production defects were found in the installation of improper battery sealing gaskets so that the seal performance weakened. In extreme conditions, when a vehicle passes through puddles at high speed, water can seep into the battery and damage isolation.

In the worst-case scenario, the damage can lower battery output and pose a safety risk. As a solution, BYD's official workshop will add a special sealant to strengthen battery casings so that water resistance returns optimally and safety risks can be avoided.
The owners of the affected vehicles are advised to immediately visit the nearest BYD authorized dealers to get free repairs. BYD must ensure that the quality of the main components such as batteries and electricity systems really meets high safety standards.
