TNI Reveals OPM's Brutal Track Record For The Ruler Of Soanggama Village

JAKARTA - Operations Command Habema Kogabwilhan III reveals a track record of violence by the OPM Kodap VIII Soanggama group led by Undius Kogoya, who previously controlled Soanggama Village in Papua.

The Commander of the Habema Koops Media Task Force, Lt. Col. Inf. Iwan Dwi Prihartono, said that this separatist group is known to have carried out various attacks on TNI and civil servants throughout 2025.

Iwan detailed that throughout 2025 the Kodap VIII OPM group was recorded to have carried out nine attacks on TNI officers in a number of locations. Several of its main incidents included attacks in Soanggama, Hitadipa District on March 28, 2025, in Zonogo, Hitadipa on March 29, 2025, and in Titigi on April 14, 30, and May 1, 2025.

In addition, the attack on Eknemba on May 14, 2025, in Sugapa Lama on May 14, 2025, in Mamba Bawah on August 8, 2025, and in Gamagai, Ugimba on October 12, 2025.

In addition to attacking the authorities, the OPM group also carried out violence against civilians in various villages. Some of them, the shooting of a resident of Michael Wattimena in Mamba Village, Sugapa on March 18, 2025.

The shooting of immigrants Joni Hendra in Wandoga Village was killed on July 25, 2025 and the shooting of PT TJP employee Anselmus Arfin in Dugusiga Village carried out by OPM led by Guspi and Joshua Waker on October 8, 2025.

Iwan explained that the operation for the Soanggama Village was started on Tuesday (14/10/2025) night. The Habema Task Force arrived at the location at around 05.30 WIT the next day, and was immediately attacked by the OPM.

The armed contact lasted for several hours before finally the TNI managed to control the village at 12.00 WIT. Of the 30 OPM members who previously controlled the area, 14 people died while the rest fled.

"At 12.00 WIT the situation was successfully controlled and the OPM group was successfully beaten back," explained Iwan, Thursday, October 16.

After the situation was safe, the TNI conducted a search and ensured that no civilians were victims. During the operation, the Task Force confiscated a number of items belonging to the OPM, including one homemade firearm, four air rifles, and ammunition of various calibers.

According to Iwan, the success of seizing Soanggama is proof of the TNI's commitment to safeguarding state sovereignty and protecting the public from the threat of separatists. "With this success, we hope that residents in Soanggama can return to their activities safely and comfortably," said Iwan.
