Funds For The 2025 SEA Games Increase To IDR 60 Billion

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, has confirmed that the funds to dispatch the Indonesian contingent to the 2025 SEA Games at the end of the year will increase to Rp60 billion.

This was conveyed by Erick at a press conference at the Wisma of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, WIB night.

"This fund really exists. I also reported to the President (to) thank you for the Government's commitment," said Erick in Jakarta.

The amount of funds above has increased five times from the initial figure of only Rp. 10 billion. The latest figure is enough to dispatch 700 to 800 athletes to the biennial event.

Erick said that this additional fund was obtained after he met with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadive on the orders of President Prabowo Subianto some time ago.

"Mr. Minister of Finance welcomed it and today dare to convey it rather than the result of its decision which has also been written," said Erick.

So far, the number of athletes and sports (sports branches) that will be dispatched to the Land of the White Elephant has not been confirmed because the review process from the review team is still ongoing.

Erick estimates that Indonesia will most likely be able to get 78 gold medals from there. This number makes Indonesia not yet safe to pursue third place.

"If we want to be in third place (in the final standings for medals), then we have to bring home 82 to 90 gold medals," he said.

The 2025 SEA Games in Thailand are scheduled to take place on 9-20 December. In total there are 50 sports and 574 match numbers contested in the multi-branch sporting event.
