Danantara CEO: Appointed Glenny Kairupan As President Director Of Garuda Indonesia Aims To Strengthen Company Restructuring Efforts
JAKARTA - CEO of Danantara Indonesia Rosan Perkasa Roeslani stated that the change of board of directors of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk aims to strengthen efforts to restore the company.
"With this) we show that we are not half-hearted in them making Garuda healthy," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 16.
The results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) approved the appointment of Glenny H Kairupan, a retired TNI officer who previously served as Commissioner of Garuda Indonesia, as the new President Director of Garuda Indonesia.
Other changes include the appointment of Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro as deputy president director, Balagopal Kunduvara as director of finance and risk management, Neil Raymond Mills as director of transformation, and Frans Dicky Tamara as commissioner.
He said the changes in the board of directors were a follow-up to previous strengthening efforts, one of which was the addition of capital worth US$405 million (Rp6.71 trillion, exchange rate = Rp16,580).
In the future, his party plans to re-strengthen Garuda Indonesia's capital, provided that the company's work plan can run and be executed properly.
Nevertheless, he admitted, the additional capital was still not enough to nourish the company, so now two foreign professionals have been recruited as an effort to strengthen the company's management.
"Garuda has always tried to be healthy many times, the capital has been injected, but it has not achieved maximum results. Now we don't want to be half-hearted because the most important thing is in terms of management which has goals and good plans," he said.
The two expatriates are Neil Raymond Mills who was once a high-ranking Air Italy, Green Africa Airways, to Scandinavian Airlines, and Balagopal Kunduvara who had experience serving at Singapore Airlines.

"In fact, there are expats that we include as reinforcement in terms of management," said Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
He explained that the decision was taken after evaluating the company's performance over the past year, in collaboration with special advisors (advisors) in the aviation sector.
"After we carried out a thorough analysis, assisted by a special aviation advisor, this has been running for about a year. In accordance with the evaluation, which has been more than a year, we are strengthening it in terms of management," he said.
