Electricity Demand Increases, Purbaya Claims As A Result Of Placement Of Government Funds Of IDR 200 T Begins To Be Seen

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa held a meeting with the President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), on Wednesday, October 15.

He conveyed that the meeting discussed the trend of national electricity consumption which showed an increase.

According to Purbaya, based on data submitted by PLN, it shows the growth in electricity demand in various regions, including in industrial areas.

This can also be seen from the increase in demand for electricity services as well as the opening of new customers in various PLN branches in the regions.

"Earlier, discussions on the development of electricity consumption throughout Indonesia, including areas that are central to Indonesia's industry. If he sees it, according to the data he sees, it has started to increase in electricity demand and from his branches in each region, right? He has these branch offices, it seems that demand for electricity service has also increased, new openings have also increased," he told the media crew, Wednesday, October 15.

Purbaya assessed that the increase in electricity demand was one of the initial indications that the government's policy of placing government funds of Rp200 trillion in Himbara began to have a positive impact on economic activity.

"What does that mean? The impact of the Rp200 trillion policy, which I launched some time ago, has begun to appear in the economy, so it seems that demand is starting to stretch," he said.

Dia berharap, tren positif ini dapat terus berlanjut dan akan meminta pembaruan data dari Dirut PLN secara berkala guna memantau perkembangan dan potensi dorongan lebih lanjut bagi perekonomian.

"Saya harapkan ke depan akan meningkat terus dan saya akan minta update ke diurut PLN mungkin setiap dua minggu, datanya seperti apa. Kita akan melihat, kalau emang masih bisa di dorong, kita dorong lagi perekonomiannya," pungkasnya.

He hopes that this positive trend can continue and will ask for regular data updates from the President Director of PLN to monitor developments and potential further impetus for the economy.

"I hope that in the future it will continue to increase and I will ask for updates to be followed by PLN maybe every two weeks, what kind of data will it be. We will see, if it can still be pushed, we will push the economy again," he concluded.
