10 Years Fugitive, Corruption Suspect Of PNPM Tanggamus Lampung Savings Fund Arrested

The Lampung High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has arrested a fugitive in the case of corruption in the management of the Women's Savings and Loans (SPP) of the Rural National Community Empowerment Program (PNPM) at the West Kelumayan District Activity Management Unit, Tanggamus Regency, for the 2015-2016 period.

"We managed to arrest the convict with the initials RLH after 10 years of being a fugitive," said Head of the Lampung Attorney General's Office for Legal Information, Ricky Ramadhan, in Bandarlampung, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

He explained that this arrest was the culmination of a silent intelligence operation carried out by a joint team from Section V of the Intelligence Assistant of the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office and the Head of the Intelligence Section of the Central Lampung District Attorney's Office.

"After going through a series of surveillance and data analysis processes, the team managed to track down the convict's whereabouts and made arrests on Tuesday (October 14)," he said.

He said that during the arrests in the Bandar Sari area, West Bandar Jaya, Central Lampung Regency, the suspect was working at his work location.

"The convict was arrested without a fight while he was working at his workplace," he said.

He explained that the case that ensnared RLH was misappropriation of public funds that should have been earmarked for women's economic empowerment in rural areas.

"The PMPNPM SPP funds were rolled out by the government to help improve people's welfare, but were misappropriated so as to harm state finances and injure public trust," he said.

Ricky conveyed that this arrest was not only a matter of enforcing the court's decision, but also about restoring a sense of justice for people whose rights had been seized.

"This law enforcement process reiterates that the DPO status will not erase criminal acts and court decisions that have legal force will still be executed," he said.

Furthermore, he said the convict RLH was immediately taken from the location of the arrest to the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office for initial examination.

"According to the procedure, the person concerned will later be handed over to the Tanggamus District Attorney as the executing prosecutor to undergo further administrative and legal processes, before being executed to the Correctional Institution to serve the criminal sentence that has been handed down to him," he said.

He also emphasized that the success of this arrest operation sent a strong and undeniable message to all fugitives in criminal cases.

"This arrest shows that there is not a single safe place for fugitives. Even though they have fled for a decade and moved from place to place, the legal snares will eventually reach them," he said.
