Sido Muncul Holds Free Cataract Operations In North Maluku
JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu dan Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) in collaboration with the North Maluku Provincial Health Office held a social service operation for free cataracts. This event was held in commemoration of the 26th Anniversary of North Maluku Province.
This free cataract operation is intended for 250 people with cataracts in the Ternate, North Maluku and surrounding areas, and is carried out at dr. H. Chasan Boesorie Hospital, Friday, October 10.
The aid of Rp650 million was symbolically handed over by the Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat, to the Head of the North Maluku Provincial Health Office, dr. Julys Giscard Kroons. Present at this activity was North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda Laos, Ternate Mayor, M. Tauhid Soleman, Tidore Mayor represented by the Expert Staff of the Mayor for Law, Politics and Government of Tidore Islands, Asis Hadad, Chairman of the Central Indonesian Eye Specialist Association (Perdami) represented by the Operational Coordinator of the Catarak Blind Management Section, dr. Dyana Theresia Watania.
Irwan said that the implementation of this free cataract operation was part of Sido Muncul's commitment to help reduce the number of sub-district sufferers in Indonesia, which continues to increase every year.
"Since 2011, Sido Muncul in collaboration with Perdami has operated more than 57,000 eyes throughout Indonesia," said Irwan in his statement, quoted on Sunday, October 12.
Irwan hopes that this activity can improve the standard of living while reducing the blindness rate of people with cataracts, especially in the Ternate area and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda Laos said Health is an important pillar in human development.

He hopes that this free cataract operation social service activity will not stop here but will become part of the sustainable movement to realize Catarrak-Free North Maluku.
