Criticism Pointed At Kluivers And Staff: Unfit For Training The Indonesian National Team
JAKARTA - Patrick Kluivert and his staff immediately drew criticism following the failure of the Indonesian national team to advance to the 2026 World Cup. The Dutch coach was deemed unsuitable to train the Garuda Squad.
The criticism about the style of training for Kluivert was made by a Dutch football observer, Valentine Driessen. Reporting from Voetbal Primeur, Monday, October 13, 2025, Driessen predicts Kluiver and colleagues will be fired.
"Although there are a lot of Dutch at all levels of staff and squad, they have been knocked out by Iraq," wrote Valentine Driessen.

"Failure against a team that is of much weaker quality. No doubt, this will lead to mass dismissal."
"Most Dutch staff in Jakarta will soon leave the field with inappropriate labels," he wrote again.
Patrick Kluiver was trusted to handle the Indonesian national team in early 2025. His presence was to replace Shin Tae-yong, who was suddenly fired by PSSI.
The presence of Kluivert began the arrival of Dutch staff carriages to the Indonesian national team. From Denny Landzaat, Alex Pastoor, advisor to Jordy Cruyff, Regi Blinker, and a row of other Dutch staff recruited by PSSI.
Since the presence of Kluivert and staff, in fact there has been no improvement in Indonesia's performance. Of the six 2026 World Cup Qualification matches in the Third and Fourth Rounds, the Red-White Team has scored four defeats and only won twice.
Indonesia suffered the last two defeats in the Fourth Round. The Garuda squad fell from Saudi Arabia 2-3 and Iraq 0-1 so that it had to end the struggle in qualifying as well as eliminate hope for the 2026 World Cup.
