Officers Destroy 8 Cellphones Belonging To Inmates At Warung Bambu Prison, Karawang
The joint officers destroyed eight cell phones belonging to inmates who were found during a raid inside the Class IIA Correctional Institution (Lapas) block, Warung Bambu, Karawang Regency, West Java.
"We together with the National Police, TNI and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Karawang have held a raid in the residential blocks of inmates," said Head of the Class IIA Karawang Prison Christo Toar as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, October 12.
The raid, which was held on Friday, October 10 from afternoon to evening, aims to eradicate drugs and all forms of irregularities in prison environments.
From the results of the joint raid, officers managed to find eight cell phones and a number of other prohibited items belonging to the inmates of the Karawang Prison.
"All the items found were immediately destroyed on the spot, led by the Head of the Regional Office of the West Java Directorate General of Social Affairs as a form of firmness and transparency in the implementation of activities," said Christo.
According to him, the joint raid was held as a form of real synergy between law enforcement officers (APH) in supporting prevention, eradication, abuse and illicit trafficking programs of narcotics in the Correctional environment.
"We continue to strengthen cross-agency cooperation as a form of commitment to maintaining security and order in prisons, as well as fully support prevention, eradication, abuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics in prisons," he said.
Through joint raids, said Christo, the Karawang Prison is committed to continuing to maintain integrity and create a correctional environment that is clean from drugs and other security disturbances, as well as ensuring that the implementation of the "Ikrar Zero Cellphone and Drugs" is actually realized in the Karawang prison environment.

Sementara itu, Kepala Kantor Wilayah Direktorat Jenderal Pemasyarakatan Jawa Barat, Kusnali, menyampaikan kegiatan ini merupakan implementasi program akselerasi Menteri Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan Agus Andrianto dalam rangka pemberantasan peredaran gelap narkoba serta pelaku penipuan dengan berbagai modus di lapas dan rutan.
"Kegiatan ini menjadi langkah nyata komitmen jajaran Pemasyarakatan di Jawa Barat untuk bersama-sama memberantas narkoba dan segala bentuk penyimpangan di lingkungan Lapas dan Rutan," katanya.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections in West Java, Kusnali, said that this activity was an implementation of the acceleration program of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto in the context of eradicating illicit drug trafficking and fraud perpetrators with various modes in prisons and detention centers.
"This activity is a concrete step for the commitment of the Correctional staff in West Java to jointly eradicate drugs and all forms of irregularities in prisons and detention centers," he said.
