Saan Mustopa Claims DPR's Recess Fund Will Not Increase

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, emphasized that the recess funds for Senayan parliament members for the 2024-2029 period did not increase.

This is in response to the issue of increasing the recess funds for members of the DPR RI from Rp702 million to Rp756 million during the October recess by the Secretariat General of the DPR RI.

"There is no increase. We have confirmed that there is no DPR RI," said Saan at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Saturday, October 11.

Saan emphasized that the DPR RI recess funds are currently the same in May. Meanwhile, the recess funds for DPR members for this period have indeed increased from members of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period.

"Still, it's no longer. It's still 700, so it doesn't add. Because it doesn't add points, it doesn't mean it doesn't add any numbers," said Saan.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, explained that there was a proposal to add Rp. 54 million to Rp. 756 million in August because there was a proposal to add a recess point.

However, recently, the proposal was canceled in conjunction with the home allowance because it received a wave of protests from the public at the end of last August.

"Well, then in August there was a proposal for additional points, so we wanted to add an increase of Rp. 54 million plus Rp. 756 but because at that time. Because there were protests due to housing allowances, we also did not approve this fund. Including the cancellation of the house allowance, the addition of our points also disagrees, "said Dasco.

The Indonesian House of Representatives is entering a recess period from Friday, October 3 to early November. In the recess period, members of the Indonesian House of Representatives will take advantage of the time to return to their constituency, interact directly with the community, and listen to the various aspirations and problems faced by residents.

The process of absorbing the aspirations of the people in the regions is part of the integral of the legislator's responsibility in representing the interests of the people.

During the recess, members of the DPR RI can hold various activities such as meetings with the community, public dialogue, visits to various locations, and listen to constructive complaints and ideas from various sectors of society.

Through a series of recess activities, the DPR RI can understand more deeply the dynamics of social, economic, and political in each of its constituencies.

In addition, absorption of the aspirations of the people is also an opportunity for members of the DPR RI to explain the various policies that have been generated at the national level and get direct feedback from the public.
