Fadli Zon Appreciates The Indonesian Pavilion At Expo 2025 Osaka

JAPAN Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon appreciates the enthusiasm of Indonesian Pavilion visitors at Expo 2025 Osaka who have penetrated 3.5 million people. This achievement exceeded the initial target and showed the great interest in Indonesia's cultural wealth.

"The number of visitors is proof that Indonesian culture has extraordinary attraction in the eyes of the world," said Fadli when symbolically handing over the award to the 3,500,000th visitor at the Indonesian Pavilion, Saturday, October 11.

Osaka Expo 2025 lasted for six months, involving 158 countries and attracting nearly 30 million visitors. This grand event generates revenue of around 3 trillion yen or equivalent to Rp330 trillion for the Kansai region and its surroundings.

During his working visit, Fadli first visited the Japanese Pavilion. Accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Japanese Pavilion, he appreciated Junkan's concept which highlighted the harmony between future traditions and technology. I emphasize the importance of circulation of culture how traditional and contemporary elements brought each other to life in cultural regeneration," said Fadli.

Menbud Fadli also praised Japan's success, especially the Osaka City Government, in presenting innovative infrastructure, environmentally friendly transportation systems, and cross-sectoral collaboration involving the community and the private sector.

The Indonesian Pavilion itself carries the theme Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future, inspired by the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana which emphasizes the balance between nature, humans and culture. This pavilion recorded investment potential of nearly USD 24 billion until the end of September 2025, covering various sectors of national development.

During Expo, the Ministry of Culture plays an active role in cultural promotion and diplomacy. The Indonesian Pavilion has become an art storefront and a Nusantara tradition starting from dance, music, theater, culinary, to wastra which depicts Indonesia's diversity in the eyes of the world.

Fadli also gave special appreciation to Bappenas/Ministry of VAT as the person in charge of the Indonesian Pavilion for cross-ministerial collaboration and solid strategic partners. Pavilion is not only a matter of beautiful architecture, but a symbol of cooperation between institutions to strengthen the image of Indonesian culture globally," he said.

Built with the concept of a large ship as a symbol of the maritime nation, the Indonesian Pavilion uses environmentally friendly materials such as Plana wood, processed rice husks, recycled plastic, and natural additives, showing Indonesia's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Indonesia's active participation in Expo 2025 Osaka confirms its commitment to making culture a foundation for sustainable development as well as a strategic diplomacy instrument. Through the significant achievements of the Indonesian Pavilion, involvement in cultural exchange, and strengthening international collaboration, Indonesia shows its important role on the global stage as a nation with rich and competitive cultural heritage.
