Toyota Prepares LFR Lexus, Hybrid V8 Engine Supercar Next To LFA

JAKARTA Toyota has just given a leak that is strongly suspected of signaling the birth of Lexus LFR, the legendary successor to LFA. The promotional image is posted on Fuji Speedway, Japan, featuring the car's front silhouette with two other icons, Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA.

From the teaser, there is a sharp front light design, large front lattices in the form of trapsezoids, as well as wide air ventilation in front of wheels. Interestingly, on the front lattices, the GR logo (Gazoo Racing) is clearly visible, confirming that this car will be under Toyota's top performance division.

Not only that, but Toyota also launched a Countdown website signaling a major announcement on Monday. The site lists the names of several brands under the Toyota group, including Lexus, Daihatsu, GR, and luxury Century sub-brands.

Although the billboard features the Toyota logo, the Car and Driver report on October 11, said the version to be sold on the United States market would most likely use a Lexus emblem. LFR attendance plans are actually nothing new.

About three years ago, Toyota Racing Development at that time, David Wilson, had revealed that the company was working on a new sports coup to replace RC as well as a base for GT3 racing cars.

Since then, a number of prototypes of these cars have been seen conducting road tests in California, United States, as well as in Nörburgring, Germany. In fact, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025, the public had seen a development version of this supercar, both in the specifications of the highway and track version.

This moment further strengthens the allegation that LFR's official debut is in sight. From a technical point of view, rumors say Lexus LFR will carry a twin-turbo V8 machine combined with an electric hybrid system, resulting in higher performance with better efficiency.

Although there has been no official confirmation regarding the energy or selling price, many parties predict this car will be the successor to the spiritual Lexus LFA with a more modern and environmentally friendly character.

The presence of LFR is believed to reinforce Toyota and Lexus' ambitions in presenting supercars that can compete with Ferrari, McLaren, and Lamborghini, but still carry Japanese DNA.
