Even Though There Are Cases Of Blood Clots, 1 Billion Doses Of AstraZeneca Vaccine Are Declared Safe

JAKARTA - Immunization expert, Elisabeth Jane Soepardi, said that 1 billion doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been used worldwide. Although, there have been cases of blood clots in AstraZeneca vaccine recipients.

"More than 1 billion doses of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine have been received by the world community. WHO has also stated that this vaccine is safe, ”said Jane in her statement, quoted on Tuesday, May 18.

Jane said, the AstraZeneca vaccine is the most widely used vaccine worldwide. Countries in Europe such as Britain and Italy have reported a very significant reduction in mortality after the intensification of COVID-19 vaccination, including the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine.

In connection with various reported cases of blood clots after receiving AstraZeneca injections in several European countries, it has been confirmed that there is insufficient evidence that blood clots are caused by the Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Data in Europe shows that there is no significant change in the incidence of thrombo embolic events after vaccination, when compared to before AstraZeneca vaccination.

"Health data in Northern Europe is very detailed, so it was found that the incidence of blood clots before and after vaccination did not actually increase. For example, there are 1000 blood clotting data in a year, after vaccination with AstraZeneca the data does not increase, ”he explained.

It is known that there was one case of a 22-year-old youth from Buaran, East Jakarta, named Trio Fauqi Virdaus, who died after being injected with the AstraZeneca vaccine batch CTMAV547 the day before.

Initially, Trio felt symptoms of fever after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine injection at Istora Senayan on Wednesday, May 5.

The next day, Trio's condition weakens and experiences blood clots. He was then taken to the hospital. However, the Trio's lives could not be saved. Trio was declared dead on Thursday, May 6 at around 12.30 WIB.

Finally, the Ministry of Health temporarily stopped the use of a production batch or batch of AstraZenexa vaccine type CTMAV547. Vaccination with AstraZeneca is continued. However, AstraZeneca's use other than the same batch was injected into Trio was not used.
