Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture Asks For A Complete Evaluation Of Islamic Boarding School Buildings In Indonesia
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno asked a number of relevant ministries and institutions to conduct a thorough evaluation of the security of educational buildings, including Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.
The evaluation of the feasibility of the construction of educational facilities has attracted the attention of the government in response to the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java, Monday, September 29.
The collapse of the Al Khoziny boarding school building in Sidoarjo has become a non-natural disaster due to technological failure with the highest number of victims who died throughout 2025. This must be a concern for all of us so that it does not happen again in the future," he said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, October 11.
The infrastructure security aspect for post-incident education buildings that killed 67 students became the subject of discussion at a ministerial level meeting chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture in Jakarta, last Friday.
Pratikno at the meeting also emphasized that ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Work, Ministry of Religion, Ministry of Health, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Basarnas and local governments must work together to ensure that all educational buildings have a safe and proper structure.
"It is necessary to strengthen coordination between agencies, so that every process of developing educational and religious facilities can meet technical requirements and be closely monitored," he said.
