MICE Encourages Tourism Awakening, ICE BSD Wins Two International Awards

JAKARTA - The MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) sector in the tourism industry is increasingly showing its strategic role. Not only being a meeting room, this industry is now developing into a creative forum capable of attracting tourists for business purposes, tourism to exhibitions.

One real example of how creativity is the key to MICE's competitiveness can be seen in Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD), Tangerang.

In the past decade, this one venue has not only provided international-scale facilities, but has also built an ecosystem that encourages collaboration between business, tourism and innovation.

Through an attractive mix of technologies, designs, and experiences, ICE BSD has just recorded an important achievement by winning two awards at the TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards 2025, Indonesia, namely Facilities Upgrade of the Year, Indonesia and Meetings & Conference on Property of the Year Indonesia.

This achievement also confirmed the position of ICE BSD as one of the most modern and innovative convention venues in Southeast Asia, as well as marking a decade's journey since its founding in 2015.

"For ten years we have been operating, the main focus is to create a better event experience for organizers and visitors. Not only through qualified infrastructure, but also through integrated and efficient services," said ICE BSD President Director E. Ernawan in his statement to VOI.

A number of facility improvements have been made in recent years, including the installation of a more flexible new hall partition system, as well as 24 LED screens in pre-function areas to support branding and event communications needs.

Located in the heart of BSD City, ICE BSD is part of an interconnected tourism and business ecosystem. Direct access to new toll roads, proximity to international airports, and support for more than 2,000 hotel rooms around it make this area ideal for organizing national and international events.

In strengthening its position in the MICE sector, ICE BSD has a special unit called ICE Events, which provides integrated event services through four major divisions, such as ICE Creation, ICE Production, ICE Partnership, and Oh My Food (cuminert tenant manager).

This approach allows clients to design, produce, and run major events without having to deal with many different service providers.

This step is also in line with the global trend of MICE which now demands high efficiency, sustainability, and immersive digital experience. ICE BSD also maintains various international certifications such as ISO 9001: 2015 for quality management systems and HACCP for food safety, affirming safe, clean, and professional operational standards.

In 2025, ICE hosted IPA Convex 2025, the largest oil and gas convention in Southeast Asia which was attended by more than 35,000 participants from 51 countries. This event was opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto marking the role of ICE BSD as one of the main drivers of the revival of the tourism sector and MICE Indonesia.

The TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards Indonesia gives appreciation to the main actors in the travel and tourism industry, ranging from hotels, airlines, airports, tour operators, to digital ordering platforms.

This award also highlights projects and innovations that contribute to the progress of the tourism sector in the Asia Pacific region.
