Azis Syamsuddin Shocked By Ethical Reports, MKD: We Request Priority

JAKARTA - Member of the Honorary Council (MKD) Indonesian Parliament, Junimart Girsang, suggested that public complaints regarding the alleged violation of the code of ethics committed by Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Azis Syamsuddin should be discussed first.

According to him, MKD currently has received nine reports of alleged violations of the code of ethics of Indonesian Parliament members, five of which were related to Azis Syamsuddin.

"As a member of the MKD, I will ask the Plenary Meeting of the MKD to prioritize the complaint against Azis Syamsuddin", said Junimart, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

He explained that the MKD held a plenary meeting on Tuesday afternoon, to receive reports of complaints of alleged violations of the code of ethics committed by Indonesian Parliament members, which will be submitted by MKD experts.

According to him, the MKD will ask for an explanation from the MKD experts whether they have verified the report, if it has been verified it will be brought up at the MKD meeting.

"More than nine reports were submitted to the MKD, five of them focused on our friend, Azis Syamsuddin. We ask to be verified as soon as possible because this has become public consumption", he said.

This step, according to Junimart, is so that the rumors and news about Azis Syamsuddin developing in the community do not become biased.

Therefore, Junimart will ask the MKD to prioritize complaints against Azis Syamsuddin, so that the public understands the functions and duties of MKD in responding to public complaints.

"MKD will not intervene in someone's legal process, but we are talking about ethics about how a DPR member can behave and behave internally and externally", he said.

The PDI-Party politician explained that the decision of the Plenary Meeting of the MKD would decide whether or not to summon the defendant.

He considered two criteria for an Indonesian Parliament member to be called MKD, namely being examined based on a complaint and not having to be examined by a complaint.

"As long as it has become public consumption, we will respond as quickly as possible and finish it in the MKD", he also said.
