Menpora Response To Israeli Athletes Cancels Participating In The 2025 Gymnastics World Championship
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, responded after Israeli athletes were confirmed to have canceled their appearance at 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship 2025 in Jakarta this month.
Israel has certainly not been able to participate in the tournament after the Government firmly refused to issue visas for the country's athletes, a move that has the support of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
"We appreciate the decision of NOC Indonesia, PB Persani, and FIG in taking the necessary steps to ensure that the championship can continue to run safely and in an orderly manner," Erick said in an official statement.
Israel is confirmed not to participate in the event because it does not have diplomatic relations with Indonesia, which has always been pros and loyal to condemn genocide in Gaza.

"The government has firmly stated that it will not have any contact with the Israeli side until Israel recognizes the existence of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state," he said.
Erick further said that his party provides full support for the implementation of 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025 so that it can be carried out safely and successfully.
"Never doubt the commitment of the Government and the President to seriousness in building Indonesian sports and efforts to make Indonesia one of the centers of world sports," he said.
The 53rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025 or the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will certainly run according to schedule on 19-25 October 2025 at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta.
This is the first time in Indonesia's history to host this prestigious event. In total there are 79 countries and 800 athletes and officials will certainly take part in this prestigious event.
