50 Years Of Summarecon: Free Cataract Operations For Hundreds Of Residents

TANGERANG - Welcoming the 50th Anniversary, PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (Summarecon) reiterated its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the Free Cataract Operations Social Service program. This activity is carried out with concern for the large number of underprivileged people who are threatened with loss of sight due to cataracts.

Lost vision can cause productivity loss. As a result, in addition to social impacts, economic burdens will also become very large. Blindness because cataracts can be prevented, but there are still many underprivileged people who have not had access to cataract operating services due to limited costs, information, and also health facilities.

President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto P. Adhi, said that Summarecon strengthens the company's social commitment by implementing a free cataract operation program. Public enthusiasm for this program is very high, this can be seen with more than 600 people who have registered from various regions.

"This activity is part of a series of other 50 years of CSR Summarecon, such as Public Facilities Surgery, 500 Houses Surgeon, Scholarship Giving, Education Facilities Assistance, to the Summarecon Teaching program. Through these various initiatives, we hope that Summarecon's concern will really provide real benefits for the wider community," he said, in a written statement, Friday, October 10.

Free cataract operations in the framework of 50 years Summarecon received extraordinary responses from the public, with hundreds of registrants coming from various regions, from Jabodetabek to outside the city such as Bandung, Tasikmalaya, Malang, and Medan. After going through the health screening process on September 27, 2025, as many as 207 patients were declared eligible for free cataract operations.

Director of Summarecon, Sharif Benjamin expressed his gratitude for the support from various parties for the holding of this event, especially to Mr. Andreas Sofiandi along with the ranks of the United Association of Teguh and Erha Clinic who have prepared all equipment for cataract operations, along with a team of eye doctors and assistants.

"In addition, to the Tangerang Regency Government and St. Carolus Summarecon Serpong Hospital. The Free Cataract operation process was carried out on October 4, 2025 at St. Carolus Summarecon Serpong Hospital and involved 7 eye specialists and a medical team. After the operation we also provided assistance in patient recovery, including the administration of drugs and observations on H+1 and D+7 after surgery. This is done to ensure that the patient's health condition is fully recovered and the benefits of the operation can be felt optimally," he explained.

Patients who took part in the cataract operation were 6 years to 90 years old. Azriel, a 6-year-old patient from Rangkasbitung, Lebak, Banten, has suffered from traumatic cataracts for more than a year. Meanwhile, Sulastri, 60, a Bekasi resident, felt very grateful after his vision was bright again after surgery.

Initially I was worried that this program was only for the elderly, but it turned out to be possible for Azriel, so I immediately rushed to register. I have high hopes for this program for Azriel's future. Hopefully with the Katarak operation from Summarecon, my son can see normally so he can go to school. Azriel's response was also very enthusiastic, from yesterday he continued to ask, Mama, when (the operation)?
