Indonesia Has A Deputy Ambassador In China, Indonesian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: We Have Complex Cooperation Dynamics
JAKARTA - Indonesia has complex cooperation dynamics with China, as well as strengthening Indonesian representatives, said an official from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the inauguration of the Indonesian Deputy Ambassador to China.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Deputy Ambassador of Indonesia to China Irene, along with 10 other ambassadors at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sugiono said the appointment considered China as a big country and the need for strengthening Indonesian diplomacy.
Related to that, a spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yvonne Mewengng, explained that the workload of Indonesian representatives in China is quite heavy, given the magnitude and extent of the country.
"We have complex cooperation dynamics with China," Yvonne told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, October 9.
"So the frequency of the engagement intensity is also very high. Not only the head of state, we have political dialogue, defense, 2+2 and so on," he continued.
"We need to handle more strategic, fast and cross-sectorally coordinated cooperative relations," he said.
As stated by the Indonesian Foreign Minister, he continued, this appointment is an effort to strengthen the presence of Indonesian representatives in China.

"Currently there is the Indonesian Embassy (Beijing) and two Indonesian Consulate Generals (Shanghai and Guangzhou). And the plan to open our Consulate General in Chengdu," explained Yvonne.
He added that the coordination of the responsibility of Indonesia-China bilateral relations is under the Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador and the deputy ambassador and all consultant generals will provide optimal support.
"So, this placement is the commitment of the Indonesian government to increase the effectiveness and reach of Indonesia's diplomacy in China," he said.
