President Erdogan: Unfair To Burden Peace Only To Palestine And Hamas
JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it was unfair to impose peace in the Gaza Strip only on Palestine and Hamas, affirming Ankara's commitment to support.
He conveyed this when speaking at the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) meeting he chaired on Wednesday.
"We are making intensive efforts in all fields, ranging from humanitarian assistance, diplomatic contact to termination of trade, recognition of the Palestinian State," he said, quoted by the Daily Sabah on October 9.
"As Turkey, we are doing whatever is necessary without hesitation to end the mass massacre that killed 67,000 of our brothers and sisters in Gaza, and nearly 170,000 innocent people were injured," he continued.
"It is unfair to only impose the burden of peace on Hamas and Palestine," said President Erdogan.
Hamas and Israel resumed indirect negotiations in Egypt, discussing the 21-point peace proposal initiated by United States President Donald Trump, since Monday with US, Egyptian and Qatar mediators.
Turkey welcomes President Trump's peace plan to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, sending intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, to monitor negotiations to achieve the plan.
President Erdogan said on Wednesday it provided active support for President Trump's peace efforts, "to get the region out of this deadlock."
"In our negotiations with other leaders, genocide in Gaza and escalation of Israeli aggression have always been the main agenda. We raise awareness of the fact that the Israeli government, which acts on the basis of sleepiness of the 'Tannah of the Treaty', can lead our region to disaster if it is not stopped. Our goal is to ensure lasting stability in our region before more innocent lives drift," President Erdogan said.

Turkish president said Palestinian militant group Hamas responded positively to Trump's plan and publicly demonstrated his willingness to peace.
"However, peace is not one winger. Handing over the entire burden of peace to Hamas and Palestine is unfair, untrue, or unrealistic," he said.
