Purbaya Says He Has Collected IDR 7 Trillion From Tax Arrears

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive revealed that the government has managed to collect nearly IDR 7 trillion from taxpayers who have been in arrears of liabilities.

To note, there are around 200 large tax arrears with a total obligation of approximately IDR 60 trillion.

Purbaya said that some of the payments had been made in stages.

"They may have just entered now, it's almost IDR 7 trillion, but the payment seems to be gradual," he said at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 8.

He ensured that he would continue to monitor the repayment process so that it could take place more quickly and optimally.

"I will monitor again how to make a quick payment," he said.

Furthermore, he stated that he would discuss with the Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto to determine future collection strategies and hope that the majority of arrears can be resolved before the end of the year.

"I have to talk to the Director General of Taxes first, but I hope most of them have entered by the end of the year," he explained.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) continued to follow up on around 200 large taxpayers who had not fulfilled their payment obligations with a total tax arrears estimated at IDR 60 trillion.

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive revealed that until September 2025, 84 tax arrears had started making payments totaling IDR 5.1 trillion.

"As of September there were 84 taxpayers who had made payments or installments with a total value of Rp. 5.1 trillion," he said in a media briefing, Friday, September 26.

Purbaya emphasized that the remaining 166 taxpayers will not be separated from their tax obligations and the Government will continue to pursue the tax evaders to pay off all arrears and ensure that none of these 200 taxpayers can avoid it.

"We will continue to pursue this until the year ends. What is clear is that they can no longer run now," he said.

Purbaya added that the majority of the 200 tax arrears came from the company, while the number of individuals who were in arrears was relatively small.

"So the largest majority of the 200 is companies, not individuals. The reason is simple, namely the scale of large tax obligations that have not emerged from corporate activities, for individual categories the number exists, but the portion is relatively small." said Purbaya.
