The Journey Of Music Edo Kondologit And His Works Full Of Messages Of Peace And Unity

JAKARTA - Ehud Eduard Kondologit or better known as Edo Kondologit, is a national singer from Papua.

Born in Malanu, Sorong, on August 5, 1967, Edo is widely known for his distinctive and emotional voice. Since childhood, his singing talent has been seen, where he actively entertains friends and is involved in church choirs.

His career in the music world began with his participation in the Asia Bagus singing competition on TVRI.

After that, he further established himself in the pop genre and was also known to often perform Christian spiritual songs. Vocal Edo became a positive magnet that gave color to the Indonesian music scene.

Throughout his career, Edo Kondologit has released two studio albums, namely "Cries" (1998) and "First morning" (2004).

His biggest legacy lies not only in the musical style he is involved in, but also in the message he conveyed. Through his voice, Edo consistently sings national peace and unity.

The songs he performed often raised themes about the homeland and love for the country, such as "Tanah Papua", "Aku Papua", "Indonesia Satu", and "Pancasila Rumah Kita."

He not only voiced these messages on the music stage, but also through his involvement in a number of social organizations.

Apart from making music, Edo also tried out the world of acting. He was a member of the male vocal group Berliima before then penetrated the big screen and soap operas. The films include films such as Red Cobex (2010), Salah Bodi (2014), Seputih Cinta Melati (2014), Badminton of Corruptor Children (2016), and Boven Digoel (2016).

Edo's interest in the struggle of the community, especially to build Papua, has also led him to politics. He was once appointed campaigner for the Prosperous Peace Party in the 2004 elections, and later joined as a functionary for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) since 2008.

Despite being practical in politics, Edo Kondologit has never really left the world of music that has made his name.

He collaborated with other musicians, such as in the song Batak "Poda" with Vicky Sianipar "shows the spirit of unity. Together with Nowela and other Papuan musicians, Edo also released the song "Papua Bangkit" as one of the theme songs of the National Sports Week (PON).

Based on the discography on Spotify, the 58-year-old man was recorded as releasing two singles in 2023, namely Mutiara Papua' and Greet for Indonesia.
