PGN Holds Coastal Clean Action, 1.1 Tons Of Garbage Lifted From Tanjung Pasir Banten
JAKARTA - A total of 1.1 tons of plastic waste was successfully lifted from Tanjung Pasir Beach, Tangerang, Banten, in a beach clean action held by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) with the Ministry of Environment. This activity involved hundreds of participants from the local community, students, to the TNI and Polri apparatus.
In addition to cleaning the beach, the participants also planted trees around coastal areas. According to the Ministry of Environment, coastal clean action (coastal clean-up) is effective in increasing public awareness of marine pollution, especially from single-use plastic waste that is difficult to decompose.
The Tanjung Pasir Village Government said the main challenge was to build up plastic waste that threatens marine biodiversity.
"It doesn't matter the sandy black beach, the important thing is to clean up the trash," said the village representative.
PGN's Corporate Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, emphasized that this activity is a form of the company's commitment to environmental management as well as support for government programs to preserve the sea.
"By maintaining the cleanliness of the coast, we will participate in preserving the marine ecosystem so that it remains healthy and beautiful," he said, in a written statement, Tuesday, October 7.
