Strengthen Digitalization At 3T Regional School, PLN Expands Access To Electricity

PT PLN (Persero) is expanding access to electricity to open digitalization access for schools in disadvantaged, frontier and outermost (3T) areas, for equitable development.

"We want every Indonesian child, wherever he is, to have the same opportunity to learn," said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 7.

Darmawan emphasized that the expansion of access to electricity is part of the government's commitment through PLN in ensuring fair energy for all Indonesian people.

"The presence of electricity in remote schools is not only a matter of turning on the lights, but also opens the way for the transformation of education, equitable development, and accelerating the national energy transition," said Darmawan.

The statement is related to hundreds of students in remote areas of Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi, who are benefiting from electricity supply.

After a long struggle with the absence of electricity supply, now 82 schools in this underdeveloped, frontier and outermost (3T) region can enjoy digital learning thanks to the village electricity program (lisdes) from the government through PT PLN (Persero).

A total of 25 schools in Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi, have been installed with SuperSUN electricity.

Not only that, 57 other schools also experienced the presence of electricity through the expansion of the PLN network.

SuperSUN is a net energy innovation by the nation's children that integrates micro Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which brings electricity to areas that have not been reached by conventional networks.

General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit of South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar) Edyansyah explained that SuperSUN is part of PLN's transformation in encouraging new and renewable energy-based electrification (EBT).

"Through the SuperSUN electricity program, schools that were previously not electrified can now feel the bright benefits and access to digital technology for teaching and learning activities. The presence of electricity is expected to be able to improve the quality of education in all corners of the archipelago," said Edyansyah.

As of September 2025, as many as 1,500 SuperSUN units have been installed in the working area of PLN UID Sulselrabar, bringing real changes to the community ranging from the growth of the local economy to the presence of new hope.

In addition, as many as 503 schools have obtained access to electricity to open space for a more modern and inclusive learning process.
