Rupiah Predicted To Weaken Limited To Rp16,660 Per US Dollar Influenced By Global Uncertainty
JAKARTA - President Commissioner of HFX International Futures Sutopo Widodo said that the movement of the Rupiah exchange rate (IDR) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, is expected to be greatly influenced by the dynamics of global uncertainty, especially those sourced from economic and political developments in the United States.
He added that the rupiah closed lower at the level of IDR 16,583 per US Dollar on Monday, October 6, 2025 trading. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index (DXY) globally still shows strength as a safe haven asset.
Therefore, Sutopo said that the movement of the Rupiah is projected to tend to fluctuate, with a relatively limited potential for weakness.
"The projection of the Rupiah movement is fluctuating with a limited tendency to weaken," he told VOI, Tuesday, October 7.
He added that although market expectations for lower interest rates by the Federal Reserve (The Fed) gave positive hopes for Asian currencies in the medium term, in the short term, market sentiment is still dominated by the power of the US Dollar as a safe haven currency amid fiscal tensions.
