Preventing DHF, Palembang Health Office Distributes Larvasida To Residents
JAKARTA - Larvasida is one of the important weapons in an effort to suppress the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).
This substance functions to kill larvae or mosquito larvae before developing into adults that have the potential to transmit the virus. In Palembang, the larval distribution program is being promoted to prevent an increase in dengue cases.
Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division of the Palembang Health Service, Yudhi Setiawan, in Palembang, Monday, explained that larvae are a special pesticide to eradicate insects in the larvae phase, including mosquito larvae that cause dengue fever.

According to him, the distribution of larvae carried out by the city government is not only a technical step, but also part of education so that people are more aware of maintaining environmental cleanliness and preventing the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
"The Palembang Health Office urges the public to promote the mutual cooperation program to clean the environment around houses and public places. This activity aims to eliminate mosquito nests and prevent the spread of dengue fever," he said.
In addition to larvae, the government also distributed Abate powder to eradicate mosquito larvae in water reservoirs. Abate works by killing larvae directly, so that the cycle of adult mosquitoes can be cut off from an early age.
Yudhi added, as of September 25, 2025, there were 697 dengue cases in Palembang City since January 2025. This number was balanced with the distribution of 697 larvae distributed to communities in 18 sub-districts.
